Learning the Steps

After learning all of the essential dance elements, you are now ready to learn the important steps in the choreography! After practicing the steps below, you can move on to the last section of the program, in which we will show you how to connect the steps. Have fun dancing!

Learning the Choreography

Now, let’s put all of the steps you’ve learned together into this lovely routine! To learn the routine, we suggest you learn it in sections. Practice each section without music first and then with music. Also, watch the demo video and use the written instruction listed below for musical cues. Have fun!

Connecting all steps


Dance Demo - Wide Shot

WRITTEN INSTRUCTION

Intro -

  • Walk in 

  • Slow spin into shadow position

  • Half basic in shadow position 

  • Switch sides quickly (still in shadow position)

  • Slow outside spin into frame (leader’s face loop)

Verse 1 -

  • Foxtrot basic

  • Left rock turn x2

  • Promenade w/ spin

  • Promenade

  • Left rock turn x2

  • Left rock turn with slow spin

Transition 1 -

  • Catch follower’s back with other hand and walk around

  • One and a half inside turns into cradle

  • Lean

  • Spin out

  • Leader’s face loop, spin into swing on 7,8

Chorus -

  • Single swing basic x2

  • Continuous rock step

  • Basic

  • Outside turn

  • Waist-roll

  • Inside turn into cradle, frisbee

  • Basic to two hand hold helicopter

  • Inside turn to side by side position

  • Switch sides

  • Slow follower face loop to shadow position

Verse 2 -

  • Two step basic x4

  • Spin into frame (like the beginning)

  • Repeat left rock turn & left rock turn with slow spin

Transition 2 -

  • Repeat catching the back in the helicopter 

  • Double inside turn

  • Duo turn into swing

Ending -

  • Repeat Chorus Pattern until follower face loop

  • Spin into final dip
