First Dance Routine to “Rivers” by Teddy Swims

Now, let’s put all of the steps you’ve learned together into this lovely routine! To learn the routine, we suggest you learn it in sections. Practice each section without music first and then with music. Also, watch the demo video and use the written instruction listed below for musical cues. Have fun!

Dance Demo - Full Body

 

Written Instruction

Intro (6 sets of 8)

Walk for 2 sets of 8

Sway x 4

Double Right Turn (end in “Titanic” position)

Sway x 6 and rotate (end in closed dance position)

Rumba 1 (6 sets of 8)

Rotating Box

Half Box, Underarm Turn to Butterfly Pattern

Side by side position and switch

Rol into lean (on count “1”)

Dip (end in 2-hand hold)

Smooth Swing (6 sets of 8)

Basic

Follower’s Outside Turn

Follower’s Left Turn

Leader’s Wrap

Faceloop follower and go around in circle (clockwise)

Roll out to Side by Side Position

Handshake and switch

Rotate clockwise

Follower’s outside turn (1.5 turn) to shadow position 

Rumba 2 (4 sets of 8)

2 Rotating Boxes (in Shadow Position)

Sway x 3 (LRL, SQQ)

Follower goes around leader (stay in shadow position, starts on count 5)

Dip, Get back to dance position

Repeat Rumba 1 

Repeat Smooth Swing

End in closed dance position


Ending Pattern (4 sets of 8)

Repeat Intro (starting from the sways)

End in Dip
