Learning the Steps

After learning all of the essential dance elements, you are now ready to learn the important steps in the choreography! After practicing the steps below, you can move on to the last section of the program, in which we will show you how to connect the steps. Have fun dancing!

Learning the Choreography

Now, let’s put all of the steps you’ve learned together into this lovely routine! To learn the routine, we suggest you learn it in sections. Practice each section without music first and then with music. Also, watch the demo video and use the written instruction listed below for musical cues. Have fun!

Written Instructions

Intro (2 counts of 8) -

  • Walk in from opposite sides of the dance floor for 6 counts

  • Leader offers their right hand, follower takes it on 7, 8

  • Follower’s face loop followed by a double clockwise turn on 5, 6, 7, 8

Pattern 1 (4 counts of 8) -

  • Half basic to half rotating basic

  • Outside turn, follower only rotates 180, bring the leader’s hand to their left shoulder

  • Half forward basic, leader behind follower

  • Lasso over follower’s head, leader comes into side by side position 

  • Step in toward each other and back out, hands come up to prayer position

  • Leader brings follower around to front, outside turn to shadow

Pattern 2 (2 counts of 8) -

  • Half side basic in shadow position

  • Matador circle to bring follower back in front

Chorus Pattern (4 counts of 8) -

  • Peek-a-boo with face touch on second one on 1, 2 and 3, 4

  • Double spin for follower to two hand hold 5, 6, 7, 8

  • Smooth swing basic

  • Double outside turn (single outside option)

  • Cradle to cradle circle

  • Lean for 1, 2, 3, 4, unwind 5, 6, extra outside turn 7, 8

Transition (2 counts of 8) - 

  • Side basic

  • Double outside turn to shadow

Highlight (4 counts of 8) -

  • Sway for one full count of 8 

  • Lifted arabesque 

  • Outside turn to side by side

  • Walk forward together (4 steps) and swing arms through

  • Face-to-face, back-to-back

  • Face-to-face, turn to shadow

Repeat Chorus Pattern 

  • After extra outside turn come into small circular dip into final dip
