Ready to dance? Start with the essential dance elements below.

Learning the Steps

After learning all of the essential dance elements, you are now ready to learn the important steps in the choreography! After practicing the steps below, you can move on to the last section of the program, in which we will show you how to connect the steps. Have fun dancing!

  1. Modified waltz box

  2. Progressive

  3. 5th Position break

  4. 5th Position break with underarm turn

  5. Box with inside turn

  6. Smooth swing basic (waltz timing)

  7. Smooth swing outside turn (waltz timing)

  8. Smooth swing inside turn (waltz timing)

  9. Smooth swing waist roll (waltz timing)

  10. Smooth swing cradle (waltz timing)

  11. Infinity (waltz timing)

Learning the Choreography

Now, let’s put all of the steps you’ve learned together into this lovely routine! To learn the routine, we suggest you learn it in sections. Practice each section without music first and then with music. Also, watch the demo video and use the written instruction listed below for musical cues. Have fun!

Written Instructions


Intro (1 count of 4, 2 counts of 8) -

  • Start side by side, follower begins walking around the leader for first four

  • Continue walking around the leader for 2 more counts, outside turn on 3

  • Follower touches leader’s chest with the left hand on 4

  • Lover’s lean on 5, 6, 7, send out on 8

  • Bring follower into cradle on 1, 2, begin cradle circle on 3, 4, 5, 6

  • Unwind to dance frame on 7, 8


Pattern 1 (2 counts of 8) -

  • Modified waltz box

  • Box with inside turn

  • Box

  • Progressive


Pattern 2 (2 counts of 8) -

  • 5th Position break 

  • 5th Position break with underarm turn

  • Box with inside turn


Chorus (4 counts of 8, 1 count of 4) -

  • 2 Smooth swing basics

  • Inside turn

  • Waist roll to cradle (no back step)

  • Roll out of cradle

  • Infinity on 6, 7 to inside turn on 8 

  • 2 Basics

  • Outside to inside turn; step out to side by side on 1, 2 

  • Switch places on 3, 4 with arm coming up and over the leader’s head

  • Leader’s face loop on 5, 6

  • Roll in and have follower’s arms come up and over the leader’s head on 7, 8 

  • Sway together for 1, 2, 3, 4

  • After roll in, finish in slow lover’s lean with follower’s arms still coming up and over the leader’s head
