Ready to dance? Start with the essential dance elements below.

Learning the Steps

After learning all of the essential dance elements, you are now ready to learn the important steps in the choreography! After practicing the steps below, you can move on to the last section of the program, in which we will show you how to connect the steps. Have fun dancing!

Learning the Choreography

Now, let’s put all of the steps you’ve learned together into this lovely routine! To learn the routine, we suggest you learn it in sections. Practice each section without music first and then with music. Also, watch the demo video and use the written instruction listed below for musical cues. Have fun!

Intro (2 sets of 8)

Walk on to the dance floor and get into dance position


Pattern 1 (6 sets of 8)

The Basic

Follower’s Right Turn (switch to hand-shake hold), get into shadow position

Lean and right turn to Side by Side position

Leader’s faceloop and rotate around (5, 6, 7, 8)

Continue rotation (1, 2, 3, 4), Leader unwinds (5, 6, 7, 8)

Roll follower into Dip, come up and quick follower’s right turn


Pattern 2 (6 sets of 8)

Left Rock Turn

Basic 

Left Rock Turn (no rotation)

Follower’s Right Turn, Leader places Follower’s right hand on his right hand (Lyrics “...if all I got is your hand in my hand…”

Leader’s faceloop, circular dip or kiss (optional)

Side Tap and Rotate (2 sets of 8)
