Learning the Steps

After learning all of the essential dance elements, you are now ready to learn the important steps in the choreography! After practicing the steps below, you can move on to the last section of the program, in which we will show you how to connect the steps. Have fun dancing!

Learning the Choreography

Now, let’s put all of the steps you’ve learned together into this lovely routine! To learn the routine, we suggest you learn it in sections. Practice each section without music first and then with music. Also, watch the demo video and use the written instruction listed below for musical cues. Have fun!

Intro (1 count of 8) -

  • Walk in towards each other and get into a helicopter position


Pattern 1 (4 counts of 8) -

  • Box

  • Two way underarm turn (underarm turn combined with a twinkle)

  • Box

  • Box with inside turn

  • Box

  • Progressive


Pattern 2 () -

  • 2 Smooth swing basics

  • Leader’s wrap

  • Inside turn

  • Leader’s wrap

  • Cradle to cradle circle

  • Reverse the cradle while moving to the right for both leader and follower

  • Lean

  • Follower rolls out of reverse cradle

  • Infinity

  • Double inside turn to frame

  • Forward hesitations (4)


½ Pattern 1

  • Box

  • Box with inside turn

  • Box

  • Progressive


½ Pattern 2

  • 2 Smooth swing basics

  • Leader’s wrap

  • Inside turn

  • Leader’s wrap

  • Cradle to unroll follower

  • Roll back into frame


Transition () -

  • Box

  • Two way underarm turn

  • Modified twinkle at the end of the TW underarm turn - three walking steps backward

  • Continuous rock turn 

  • Follower’s clockwise turn into cradle (snake the follower’s left hand underneath the right arm)


Ending () -

  • Lean

  • Dip (follower’s hand comes up and over head)

  • Come up and get into outside partner position

  • Helicopter for 4 counts

  • Forward hesitations (4)

  • Outside turn to final dip
